READING TUTORS

Learn more. Do more. Be more.

Reading can be stressful…but it sure doesn’t have to be. We work on our students’ fluency and comprehension, skills that will allow them to flourish in nearly every subject.

TC Reading aims to develop critical thinking skills in students of all ages. Reading comprehension skills impact every aspect of your students’ education. Comprehension issues can make homework harder, affect self-esteem, and create disengaged students. Our TC Reading will help develop your students’ fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills so they can become lifelong learners. Our program will help eliminate the stresses of reading while preparing students for future classroom and testing success.

Reading Tutoring For 6th - 8th Grade Students

Middle school is an entirely new territory that requires a major adjustment from what your student may be used to in elementary school. Schoolwork gets exponentially tougher and their schedules can become jam-packed with new extracurriculars. Strong reading skills are more critical than ever to succeed as they are expected to analyze and demonstrate an understanding of the information presented in texts for nearly ALL subjects. This expands into the ability to identify the main ideas and supporting details.

At Tutoring Club, we eliminate the late nights and unwanted stress that comes with the more challenging homework assignments and more demanding exams. To do this, our tutors work with students on using context clues, roots, prefixes, and suffixes to define unfamiliar vocabulary as well as to understand the meaning of provided texts. We aim to boost our students’ confidence in reading and to create self-motivated learners just in time for high school!

We Provide Tutoring For:

  • Context Clues
  • Word Relationships
  • Prefixes/Suffixes
  • Compare and Contrast
  • Cause and Effect
  • Critical Thinking Skills

What is a TC Reading Session Like?

Individualized Lessons

Tutoring Club believes that learning should be specific to your student. As such, we don’t do whiteboard-based, one-size-fits-all, singular pace instruction. Our tutors get to know your student and their unique learning style, strengths, and the areas in which they could use that critically important confidence boost.

Tutors Who Mentor

When your student arrives for their session, our tutors will greet them on a personal level, outline the goals of the session, and then do what they do best: teach. Based on your student’s last session and their understanding/performance, a new lesson is custom-designed to take their skills further and help them catch up, get ahead, and become more confident.

A Perfect Blend

Our tutors then spend the duration of the session engaging in example questions/problems with your student, allowing your student to then work independently to briefly show that they have retained the key material, and then talk through those matters in which your student needs a bit more instruction and support, with the end-goal of subject-matter mastery and independent learners.
