Award-winning Tutoring Club of McLean (TCM) has immediate openings for part-time tutoring positions for all subjects and ages. This position will begin as Work from Home and will continue to be remote until it is safe to re-open our learning center. Once the center re-opens, this position will transition to in-person. Please do not apply if you cannot commute to McLean, VA when that occurs.

The ideal candidate is an experienced professional who demonstrates solid proficiency in teaching and coaching students, written and verbal communication, and building relationships. You're good at:

  • Coaching and guiding students to meet their academic goals.
  • Tutoring multiple subjects and tutoring to all ages effectively (but it’s okay if you can’t tutor all subjects to all ages – if you can, we’ve found another unicorn!).
  • Strengthening students’ study habits and identifying how each student learns best.
  • Motivating students who need that extra oomph.
  • Helping students manage their academic anxiety and perfectionism.
  • Working with up to three students at a time.
  • Being engaging, nimble, and professional, and working remotely.
  • Keeping detailed records of tutoring sessions.
  • Attending team meetings and TC social outings


You have:

  • Reliable technology and internet bandwidth (thank you, COVID-19)
  • The ability to make at least a year commitment (our students depend on it!)
  • A Bachelor’s degree or are an exceptionally strong undergraduate student
  • Prior tutoring experience and thorough content knowledge
  • A passion for our mission and our students’ success
  • A <3 of working in a team atmosphere that celebrates the success of our students


Extra awesome:

  • The ability to tutor all (or almost all) high school sciences AND math, including AP/IB levels
  • Test prep tutoring experience: SAT/ACT/PSAT/AP/IB/SOL/TJHSST/SSAT/ISEE/HSPT (content
  • Orton Gillingham experience
  • The ability to also tutor Latin, French, or AP Econ
  • Teaching experience or degree
  • Experience with learning differences, including EF weaknesses
  • The desire to grow with Tutoring Club!


You can work:

  • A minimum of 2 days per week, but the more the better (weekends are awesome, too)
  • During the school-year tutoring hours of Monday-Friday 3pm-9pm; Saturdays 9am-3pm; Sundays
    (coming soon)
  • During the summer tutoring hours of Monday-Friday 9am-8pm; Saturdays 9am-3pm

Part-time Marketing and Operations Student Interns

Tutoring Club of McLean has an immediate opening for this exciting and rewarding NEW position! The Student Intern position provides the unique potential to enjoy the fulfilling benefits of improving students’ lives, as well as the exciting challenges of a growing company. Working in our locally owned and operated learning center, this new position will be an integral part of our fun and award-winning team.

As a Marketing and Operations Student Intern (MOSI), you will work with the owner/director and other leadership team members in Marketing areas such as social media, website updates, content writing, community and school outreach, event planning and participation, customer outreach, market research, advertising, materials development, contest development and implementation, and more. From the Operations side, you will work in areas such as process development and refinement, operating playbook development and formatting, financial/HR/marketing reporting, light bookkeeping, training development and refinement, the tutor experience, the student experience, and more. You will also assist with answering phones, scanning, and light filing.

As a MOSI, you will be an integral part of a small, fun, and hard-working team, and have excellent written and oral communication skills and strong attention to detail. You are dependable, talented, motivated and well-organized, and you will learn quickly, be a self-starter, and be willing to take ownership of special projects. You are focused on making a terrific first impression to all who walk-in or call, and you embody our core values.

Marketing and Operations Student Intern Responsibilities:


  • Manage social media sites, such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, and Twitter, to ensure regular and engaging posts. Work with Director to create a calendar of posts and creates content for posts. Monitor results on a monthly basis and share Pinterest findings with Coordinators/Staff.
  • Update Website and social media pages, as requested.
  • Write content, create marketing/POP/event materials-including videos, and develop promotions, as requested, including authoring periodic blog articles and social media posts regarding best practices and useful information for staff and families, as well as monthly emails to our database and staff.
  • Assist in coordination and implementation of periodic Tutoring Club and community events to drive awareness and client demand. (Clarendon and McLean Days, McLean HS and MONA Holiday Bazaars, college planning workshops, ACT/SAT fundraisers, read-a-thons, kids' nights/ afternoons, etc.) Work closely with instructors and management team to determine workshops needed by staff and families.
  • Work with Education Coordinator in community outreach.
  • Keep mailing, customer, inquiries, and master student lists up to date, and help build school-based contacts for referral purposes.
  • Maintain testimonial log and process new testimonials.
  • Manage and track specials and recommend when needed.
  • Monitor tutor inquiry sources for potential leads and initiates contact via email.
  • Follow up via email with previous season and year students for enrollment.
  • Assist with market research on potential growth opportunities and competitive observations.
  • Track metrics monthly: marketing, inquiries/sales, student successes, customer satisfaction, retention, etc.



  • Assist with developing and refining internal processes to maximize efficiencies.
  • Finish first draft of operating playbook, including recommendations for best formatting, then develop system for future updates.
  • Work with owner on template development and ongoing report for financial, marketing, and HR reports.
  • Review new-hire and ongoing training programs and make recommendations based on best practices.
  • Work with owner and other members of the leadership team to review, enhance, and monitor the tutor experience and the student experience.
  • Assist with light bookkeeping, answering phones, greeting customers, computer maintenance, maintaining a clean and lively center, scanning, and filing.


Student Intern Requirements:

  • Strong undergraduate student in his/her senior year.
  • We seek a professional, trustworthy, dependable, cooperative, and consistent individual who is strong on detail and has a demonstrated track record of excellence.
  • S/he will learn quickly; is a self-starter; has strong computer and problem-solving skills; is easily able to navigate Microsoft Office products and other software programs and forms of technology as needed; has accurate data entry skills; and has strong listening and communication skills.
  • The MOSI is outgoing and energetic; has a warm, courteous and friendly personality with a strong customer service spirit; is high energy and passionate about student success; has an independent work ethic; is able to make good judgment calls; has a commitment to working in a collaborative environment; and is willing to take ownership of special projects.
  • S/he has the ability to embrace and drive change; create a fun and informative environment for students and peers; build open and honest relationships and partnerships; be adventurous, creative and open minded; and pursue self-development and learning.
  • Flexibility and adaptability; strong editing, writing, and oral communication skills; as well as the ability to be nimble and work in a fast-paced work environment that requires strong organizational and time management skills and self- motivation are a must.
