Creating Confident Learners For Life

Who We Are

Hi, and welcome to Tutoring Club of Bend, OR! We passionately serve Deschutes County students of all backgrounds and academic abilities, pre-K through 12th grade! Our award-winning TC curriculum provides the resources and opportunity for every student to become a confident, self-motivated learner for life.

What We Do

We teach students how to learn.

At Tutoring Club of Bend, we believe that educators are mentors. Our team works closely with students to get to know them on a personal level because we understand that there is much more to academic performance and success than what happens inside the classroom. Individualized support is key, which is why we create a customized game plan for each and every student we encounter. Our team provides tutoring year-round in all high school subjects, SAT/ACT test prep, and more, as well as guidance in navigating the college applications process. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Statistics, Honors and AP English, and AP US History are just a few of our specialties.

Why We Do It

We are invested in each student’s success.

For us, tutoring is personal. We are deeply committed to long-term academic success that builds lasting confidence and brings out the best in every student. When we hear that a student has moved up from C’s to A’s, or that reading has become a joy instead of a chore, we know that our services are changing lives. All of us at Tutoring Club of Bend are proud of the many thousands of students who have passed through our center and we look forward to working with those students who meet our team for the very first time this upcoming year.

What Makes Us a Great Choice

We are a one-stop solution.

Our award-winning approach gives us the ability and expertise to assist students of all ages and abilities. From the very beginnings of math and reading to AP high school courses and college admissions, we provide students with the dedicated support that they need throughout their academic career. Parents and students alike have quickly grown to appreciate Tutoring Club of Bend’s friendly and engaging environment, and often commend us on our flexibility, passion, and – most critically – outcomes.

Meet Our Team

Driven To Help Your Student Succeed

Nate Ewen

Owner/Director

Nate Ewen, owner/director of the Tutoring Club of Bend, purchased the center in March of 2020 from the original owner/director who opened the doors in 2006.  A big attraction behind Nate’s desire to join the Tutoring Club is its culture and environment.  “The culture here is vibrant, collaborative and infectious, and it’s truly rewarding not only to see the kids grow their academic abilities, but to also see the boost in their confidence and self-esteem.  And that is a big credit to our tutors here, they are amazing,” says Nate.

Nate is an Oregon State Univ. graduate with an engineering degree in CEM.  He retired from a 25-year career in the construction industry to embark on this endeavor.  Nate developed a passion for working with children through eight years of coaching youth soccer and informally tutoring middle school students in math.  As owner/director of the club, Nate is excited to face the growing needs of the community and the business.

Nate’s hobbies/interests include running, cycling, pickleball, reading (especially historical works by David McCullough), crosswords, cribbage, cooking and geography (studying maps and terrain, traveling the land).

Testimonials

What parents and students are saying

C.F.
Last week after I picked up my daughter from tutoring she spontaneously started to sing your praises, "I think that the way they teach is really effective and I am understanding things that I had  a very hard time understanding last year in math because they are directly talking to me and help me when I need it. For instance, when I did not understand the multiplication standard algorithm they just walked me through it and after that I understood it really well!"
I will say when she first started she used the words, "...things that I never thought I would understand." :) So thank you and her tutors for your work with her.

The tutors at Tutoring Club were excellent. My son loved working with all of his tutors there (as much as any kid loves tutoring anyways!). He made tremendous progress in math over the summer of 2020 and not only caught up to grade level but then excelled in his Algebra class, which really increased his confidence. The tutors were all very patient and understanding of his needs. Nate did an excellent job of communicating quickly as well. Highly recommend!

My son loves going to the tutoring club . He looks forward to his day there. They are very hands on with the kids and are specialized to your child’s needs. I’m very appreciative of them, it takes a lot of the burden off of me home-schooling him the past two years. I very highly recommend it!
